Barnet Football Club
10 September 2003:
Barnet FC and the Nationwide Football website have issued a press release confirming that Nationwide WPL Southern Division club Barnet have appointed two sports therapists and a sports psychologist (Jo Brown) to the backroom team.

Eden Magazine
January 2003, issue no 6:

"I know it sounds strange to need a life coach. The term makes me think of an athlete or a Super-CEO or someone who needs to 'know themself' better. However, I was proven wrong when I had my initial goal-setting session with Jo Brown. She starts with a diagnosis on all parts of your life: creative, work, family and health. It's quite a cathartic process to give a potted history of your life to a stranger. Then we talked about setting one goal in each of the sectors and one thing that I would like to achieve. We then whittled those down to three main goals.

I liked the way that Jo guided my ramblings, making sense of the points I was struggling to make. She uses and believes in neuro-linguistic programming. Scary as it sounds, it does work. I re-phrased some of my goals so that they sounded more manageable to me. Some I had selected were serious and some more superficial, but I liked the idea of making all the plates spin at the same time. Often it's easier to concentrate on the easy or more critical things we have going on in our lives. We feel guilty about spending time on more personal or creative matters.

Jo's clients can work with her weekly over three months and are free to set the agenda or concentrate on just one goal. The coaching is as flexible as it needs to be. I was particularly impressed with how 'human' Jo was during the sessions, offering insights and an objective point of view. She was there to support me throughout, breaking down each goal into its components and I was the one responsible for setting the tasks and deadlines.

EDEN VERDICT: Sometimes we all need a helping hand in improving the quality of our lives. I do feel that my life is better for the coaching sessions with Blueskies. I feel more prepared to fire on all cylinders and have the confidence to go after the things I want to achieve. What's more, the sessions can take place over the phone!"
